When the International Rugby Board and the New Zealand Rugby Union brought the Sevens to Wellington, they put Verve in charge of the off-field action.
We designed and ran the event from the ground up—the parade of nations to welcome teams and fans from around the world, the street parade, the in-stadium entertainment and the after-party to thank the players.
We also kicked off the fancy dress madness that now defines the event when we sent seven Elvises onto the field between games to get the party started, and planted Men in Black in the audience.
In the stadium we handled the logistics and security for a crowd of 36,000. When the fans took to the streets, we managed a party zone that covered almost the whole central city.
Verve set the template for what has become an iconic Kiwi event.
